Mount Amuyao in the Cordillera

Amuyao stands in the Cordillera highlands, reached through communities in Mountain Province and Ifugao. It is a cultural landscape as much as a summit. You are walking through places people farm and live, often with local guides whose knowledge of the mossy forest matters more than a downloaded track.

This is not the first mountain after Batulao. Plan on a multi-day approach, homestay manners, and cash for guides and porters. The summit can be cold and clear or cold and shut in by cloud. Pack for the second.

Ask permission, stay on the agreed trail, and do not treat a village as a backdrop. Mobile signal is a rumour. Tell someone in the lowlands your dates.

If you want a managed grassland sunrise with a known slot system, Pulag is the more predictable introduction to Luzon’s high country. Amuyao is the quieter, longer answer.
