Outdoor adventures in the Philippines

Day hikes and overnight climbs — Pulag, Apo, Pinatubo, Makiling, Batulao, Hibok-Hibok, Amuyao, Taal, and Siargao’s Cloud 9.

The old mytourguide.ph adventures library was a long list of mountains. This first rebuild keeps the climbs people actually plan from Manila or a regional city, plus Cloud 9 for readers who want water instead of a summit register.

Protected areas have their own offices. Pulag is not a walk-up picnic, Pinatubo depends on lahar road conditions and 4x4 rules, and Taal’s crater rules change with alert level. Read the single-mountain note, then confirm with the park or municipal tourism desk.

PAGASA is the weather check. A blue homepage map is not a reason to ignore a trail advisory.

Mount Pulag: plan the permit before the sunrise photo

Pulag’s Akiki, Ambangeg, and the visitor cap — what a first-timer from Manila needs to know before booking a van.
